Nancy Stearns brings her new show "With Rhyme, But For No Particular

) for two performances in April. Monday the 23rd at 7:00 pm and Sunday
the 29th at 5:30 pm. Musical direction is by Gregory Toroian with
direction by Helen Baldassare. Nancy is known for finding wonderful
little-known material, some real "finds", and in this show, she has
done it again.
"With Rhyme, But For No Particular Reason" is Nancy's
seventh solo show at DON'T TELL MAMA in as many years, teamed with
her music director, Gregory Toroian. For this show Nancy and Gregory
are joined by David Finck on bass.
Since 2001, Nancy Stearns has appeared regularly at
DON'T TELL MAMA, and she also performed at The Encore in November
2005 in the show "Celebrate Me Home," a benefit organized by Helen
Baldassare in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
Nancy recently released two CDs, "Sing Me A Song With
Social Significance ... Or Not," and "The Words of Women.: The CDs
are based on shows that she performed in 2006 and 2005 at Don't
Tell Mama. On the CDs, Nancy and Gregory are joined by David Finck,
on bass
Gregory Toroian is an accomplished and popular musical
director, arranger, accompanist and songwriter in New York City.
He has appeared in almost every jazz club and cabaret (major and
minor) in New York, and made numerous radio and television appearances.
He produced and served as musical director for a revue of Michel
Legrand's music called How Do You Keep The Music Playing, which
has been performed in New York City, Toronto, Chicago, and Lake
Placid. When not performing and touring, he coaches singers both
privately and publicly, having been on the faculty of The New School
University and the Lee Strasberg Institute. He is currently on the
faculty of Helen Baldassare's Cabaret Performance Workshop in NYC.
In his spare time, he conducts workshops and master classes around
the country.
Helen Baldassare has performed in numerous clubs throughout
New York City and is a multi-MAC award and BISTRO winner. The founder
and director of Cabaret Performance Workshop, Helen is a prominent
teacher of the art of cabaret. She currently conducts cabaret workshops
in New York City and Italy, and has conducted workshops and master
classes in cities throughout the country, from New Hampshire to
Alaska. Helen has directed many solo cabaret acts. Nancy is the
administrator for Helen Baldassare's Cabaret Performance Workshop.
There is a $12 cover, 2-drink minimum.
