On Sunday, May 6th at 7:00 pm, 2006 Songwriters Hall of Fame award
winner Annie Dinerman will be performing at THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE
BEECHMAN THEATER (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909 -

). She will be singing songs from her CD, "1,001 American Nights",
plus some very new tunes, and a few older favorites. CDs will be on
sale at the show.
Annie is the Songwriters Guild winner of the 2006
Abe Olman Scholarship for Excellence in Songwriting. The Songwriters
Hall Of Fame awards the Abe Olman Scholarship annually to promising,
young songwriters. Annie's environmental song "One Planet At A Time"
was a finalist in the 2006 Music To Life songwriting competition
at the prestigious Kerrville Folk Festival. Annie also holds a Backstage
Bistro Award for Songwriter of the Year and a MAC Award for Outstanding
Special Musical Material.
Smart, heartfelt lyrics bring out all the fun of this
very female writer's voice. Her honest, unvarnished vocals are reminiscent
of a young Carole King. Annie's writing is influenced by classic
storytellers such as Paul Simon, Wendy Waldman and Laura Nyro. Annie
Dinerman's song "Child In Me Again" was performed by Kathie Lee
Gifford on the Rosie O'Donnell Show and in a sold-out engagement
at Rainbow & Stars. "Christmas Is A Homemade Holiday" (lyrics by
Annie Dinerman, music by Ned Ginsburg), was recorded by The Broadway
Kids; it was performed by Kathie Lee Gifford with The Broadway Kids
on her 1997 CBS-TV Christmas special. Annie's "Earth and Sky" was
recorded by The Broadway Kids on The Broadway Kids Sing Christmas
CD. The Broadway Kids also recorded two more Ginsburg/Dinerman tunes:
"The Broadway Kids" themesong and "Don't Go Hollywood On Us".
The late singer Nancy LaMott championed Annie's songs
and performed them many times. Three of Annie's best known songs,
"The Lady Down The Hall," "Child In Me Again," and "Earth And Sky"
are featured on Nancy's CDs. Ms. Dinerman's songs are included in
four songbooks: The Annie Dinerman Songbook (Helene Blue Musique),
plus two collections of Christmas songs (Hal Leonard) and Contemporary
Cabaret (Hal Leonard).
In 1998 and again in 2004, Annie was delighted to
learn that her songs were performed by top 10 quartets in the Worldwide
Sweet Adelines Competition. Both performances were recorded for
the Sweet Adelines Competition Video.
There's a $15 cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum.
