After his 2006 debut at DANNY'S SKYLIGHT ROOM in December
2006, Jose Luis Rodriguez was named one of the Top 10 Outstanding
Acts of 2006 by Theater Scene.net and, most recently, received a
2007 Back Stage Bistro Award as Outstanding Unique Artist.
A native of Puerto Rico, Jose fell in love with the
lush, romantic sounds of the harp at an early age. As a teen, he
began seriously studying guitar and harp with Jose Serrano. When
he was 21 years old, he moved to Los Angeles, California where he
began studying with world renowned harpist Alfredo Rolando Ortiz
and appeared in local concerts as a soloist. He also became a regular
at the Caribe Hilton in San Juan where he received rave notices
from the music critics. Appearances at the esteemed La Fortaleza,
the Puerto Rican Governor's State Residence as well as the Puerto
Rican Center for the Performing Arts followed. Soon, Jose was in
demand at high profile functions and club dates in Los Angeles and
Puerto Rico.
After moving to New York in 2005 to pursue his career,
Jose made his night club debut at Danny's Skylight Room in November
2006. His repertoire include songs from Broadway, classical, pop,
Latin folk, Spanish tunes, Brazilian jazz, and tunes from the Great
American Songbook. Some of his most requested improvisations include
a fusion of sweeping arrangements on many classics including: "How
Do You Keep the Music Playing," "Dust in the Wind" "Autumn Leaves"
and "Unforgettable" as well as a rich array of Latino classics.
Jose Luis also plays with the Pasion Akustica Quintet,
a World Music fusion group consisting of harp, flute, guitar, bass,
and drums. The quintet specializes in Latin, folk, Brazilian, and
Easy Listening genres with an emphasis on improvisation. He has
also performed with Ricky Martin at The Ricky Martin Foundation.
Joining Jose on March 18 and May 6 for this very special
event will be one of today's most acclaimed vocalists, the award
winning singer Marcus Simeone ( ... Stratospheric voice!" Jonathan

magic on stage with these two phenomenal talents.
