BARB JUNGR RETURNS TO NEW YORK FOR TWO SHOWS
UK based vocalist Barb Jungr is pleased to announce two very special
shows on May 9th at 9:30 pm and May 10th at 10.30 pm at THE METROPOLITAN
ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440 -
http://www.metropolitanroom.com/
). The performances will feature Charlie Giordano on piano. The two
scheduled shows celebrate the re-release of her 1999 album, "Bare,"
re-titled "Bare Again," on ZC Records in the USA, and her material
for these shows will be a mix of songs from this and her Linn Records
releases.
With her unique vocal style, critics have compared
her to Nina Simone, Peggy Lee and Edith Piaf. Since 2000, Jungr's
releases on Linn Records have brought her to the world stage and
revealed her to be one of Europe's most exciting voices.
The 1999 album "Bare," a near-live album recorded
by Overtones Productions for Irregular Records has been unavailable
for some time. Inspired by an invitation to re release it from ZC
Records in the USA, Barb added three other Irregular tracks released
on "9 by 2" and a CD produced for The Medical Foundation for the
Care of Victims of Torture. Christoph Bracher remixed the original
album and artist and photographer Garry Laybourn produced a new
cover based on his original sleeve in 1999. The CD will be available
this May in the USA.
During the production of the re-release Barb's friend
and long time accompanist and collaborator, Russell Churney, sadly
died. This album, on which Russell accompanies Barb on piano on
fourteen tracks, is a celebration of his artistry.
