) on Tuesday, May 8th and Wednesday, May 16th both shows at 7:00 pm.
The show is a romantic journey to the tunes of such master composers
and lyricists as Johnny Burke, Johnny Mercer, Bob Merrill, Irving
Berlin, Jimmy Van Heusen, Sammy Cahn, Charles Strouse, and many more.
In the fall of 2005, Paul Chamlin and Rochelle Breyer
met at Kutschers Country Club while singing a High Holiday gig.
Their courtship is told in a musical journey that encompasses 16
duets. Paul, who has been on the cabaret scene as a Musical Director
for many years, gets to show off his fine baritone in addition to
his renowned keyboard skills. He has dug through his treasure-trove
of American musical classics to offer up some less familiar gems,
along with old favorites like "I Still Get Jealous" and "Anything
you Can Do." Rochelle, a classically-trained soprano who has performed
in opera and oratorio, switches gears to join Paul in this fast-paced
and light-hearted look at the ups and downs of finding your soul
mate when (and where) you least expect it.
Paul Chamlin has been an integral part of the New
York musical scene for over 20 years, were he has served as Musical
Director and pianist for hundreds of cabaret shows and concerts.
Recently, Paul was Musical Director for the Friar's Club "Divo Night,"
featuring Len Cariou, Sal Viviano, Kevin Meaney, and Sidney Myer,
among others. In addition to private coaching, Paul works with singers
in workshops and performance classes throughout the city. Paul has
an extensive knowledge of musical theater repertoire Î with a particular
fondness for little-known gems. This knowledge is reflected in his
eclectic and enormous sheet music collection. Additionally, Paul
is a classically-trained baritone and sings regularly at the Cathedral
of St. John the Divine.
Rochelle Breyer has performed as a soloist and professional
vocalist with groups such as the Choral Symphony Society and Philadelphia
Oratorio Society, as well as many church and synagogue choirs including
Temple Emanu-el in New York City. In Opera she's appeared as Elsa
in Lohengrin and The First Lady in The Magic Flute. Musical theater
roles include Sue in "Bells are Ringing," Helen in "Flower Drum
Song," and Lady Thiang in "The King and I."
