ERIC MICHAEL GILLETT MAKES METROPOLITAN ROOM DEBUT
MAC and Bistro Award-winning vocalist Eric Michael Gillett will make
his THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440

) debut with his acclaimed tribute to the radio songs of the 50s to
the 80s, HOOK LINE & SINGER, appearing for two nights only, on Thursdays
at 8:00 pm, May 10th & 17th. The show, which was recently presented
in the 2007 New Jersey Performing Arts Center Cabaret Series, will
reunite the band from that engagement, including musical director
D. Jay Bradley, vocalists Leslie Anderson, Traci Reynolds, and Melanie
Vaughan, and special guest Mary Carey, with Matt Wigton on bass, Ann
Klein on guitar, and Joe Mowatt on drums.
The original production of HOOK LINE & SINGER was
directed by Lina Koutrakos. Both performances are being recorded
for future live CD release.
Eric made his Broadway debut in the original cast
of the acclaimed revival of Kiss Me, Kate and was also a member
of the original Broadway casts of Stephen Sondheim's The Frogs and
the Marvin Hamlisch/Craig Carnelia musical, Sweet Smell of Success,
directed by Nicholas Hytner. Eric's off-Broadway credits include
Dream a Little Dream, The Tutor, Time and Again, Silent Laughter,
and Big City Rhythm. New York City Opera audiences have seen Eric
playing principal roles in both Cinderella and Candide, and he was
featured in the national tour of the Leslie Bricusse musical, Doctor
Dolittle.
Regional credits include, All About Us, Kander & Ebb's
musical adaptation of The Skin of Our Teeth, Sleuth, Carnival, Annie,
La Cage aux Folles, and the Kopit/Yeston Phantom. This summer he
will play 'Peron' in the Oklahoma Lyric theater production of Evita.
Film credits include Maid in Manhattan, The Producers, and My Brother,
starring Vanessa Williams, while television audiences have seen
him in Law & Order, Law & Order: SVU, and Ed. On the internet, he
was featured as 'Moses' in the Comedy Central Motherload series,
Good God.
Eric may be best known as former Ringmaster of Ringling
Bros and Barnum & Bailey Circus, a position he held from 1987-1998.
During that period, he performed for millions of circus fans across
the United States and, with David Larible, for the Royal Family
of Monaco in their acclaimed comedy show. Eric was Ringmaster for
world-famous Gunter Gebel-Williams' Farewell Tour, as well as for
his unprecedented return to the circus ring in the CBS television
special, The Return of Gunther Gebel-Williams. Additionally, Eric
appeared on countless radio and television programs, including Regis
and Kathy Lee, Good Morning America, The Rosie O'Donnell Show, and
as the Ringmaster in the Walt Disney Sing-Along video, Let's Go
to the Circus.
A recipient of both the MAC and Back Stage Bistro
Awards for Outstanding Male Vocalist, Eric has appeared nationally
in his solo shows Cast of Thousands and Hook, Line and Singer, as
well as with his singing partner, Melanie Vaughan, in their acclaimed
duo show, It Takes Two: The Duets of Stephen Sondheim. As a concert
artist, he has appeared at the Russian Tea Room, Town Hall, and
Zankel Hall, New Jersey Performing Arts Center, and the Brownville
Concert Series, among many others. Solo albums: Cast of Thousands:
The Songs of Craig Carnelia and Sing a Rainbow. Original cast albums
include Sweet Smell of Success, Big City Rhythm-The Songs of Barry
Kleinbort, The Frogs, Kiss Me, Kate, and the motion picture soundtrack
recording of The Producers. Eric can also be heard on the Jamie
DeRoy and Friends compilation albums, The Child in Me, When I Grow
Up, and 'Tis the Season.
