CABARET AS THEATRE/THEATRE AS CABARET SEMINAR AT THE TRIAD
MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabarets) is proud to announce its next
seminar on the topic of "Theatre as Cabaret/Cabaret as Theatre," to
be held at THE TRIAD (158 West 72nd Street, NYC - RESV: 212-465-2662
-
http://www.Triadnyc.com/
) on Tuesday May 22nd from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. The seminar will explore
the origins of shows like Nunsense, Newsical, Jacques Brel..., and
others that had their start in a cabaret room and have gone on to
off-Broadway, Broadway, regional and even international success. The
seminar will also explore the use of the cabaret venue for non-traditional
cabaret performance.
Award-winning panelists scheduled to appear are Rick
Crom (Newsical), director Gerry Geddes, director and performer Miles
Phillips, Jay Rogers (Whoop-dee-Doo!; My Deah!), and Mark Waldrop
(Hey, Love: The Songs of Mary Rodgers; Whoop-dee-Doo!). Our moderators
for the evening are Time Out New York's Adam Feldman and Sherry
Eaker of Back Stage.
Past seminars have been held on the topics of obtaining
out-of-town bookings, producing a CD and - most recently - the history
of NYC cabaret.
Reservations are highly recommended using the special
reservation phone number above. The seminar will begin promptly
at 6:30 pm and include Q&A with the audience. Admission is free
for members of MAC and only $10 for guests. Membership applications
will be available at the door.
