CABARET NEWS - NEW YORK CITY

BLAIR CASDIN IN CD RELEASE PARTY SUNDAY
A CD Release party for vocalist Blair Casdin's new album Cheek to Cheek - Sophisticated Songs for Jazzy Parents will be held on Sunday, June 3rd, at 7:00 pm at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440 - http://www.metropolitanroom.com/ ). "Cheek to Cheek" is the quintessential collection of jazz and pop standards reimagined as expressing parents' love for their children. Working with gifted arranger and producer Pete McGuinness, Blair Casdin will present a new perspective on familiar songs.

In an album especially for parents, and the kids they love, Blair is joined by some of the finest musicians on Broadway and on the New York City jazz scene, including Dave Pietro on clarinet, flute, and sax, Dan Levine on trombone, Pete McCann on guitar, Ted Kooshian on piano, MaryAnn McSweeney on bass, and Scott Neumann on drums.

Blair Casdin's voice has been described as soulful, dynamic, bluesy, languid, and enchanting. Blair's early training began in New Orleans where she worked with a variety of blues and funk groups. A year spent travelling with an a cappella group brought Blair a new appreciation for sophisticated melodies and harmonies. She continued her musical education in the San Francisco Bay Area singing in clubs, coffee shops, and for private parties. While there, she recorded her first cd with such jazz veterans as Larry Vuckovich and Akira Tana.

Having just returned to New York, Blair has spent the last 9 months putting together her latest recording. Working with Peter McGuinness, and some of New York's top musicians, has helped her combine both her passion for jazz standards and soulful pop classics in an album inspired by the new joys in her life, her two young daughters.

There is a $20 Cover plus a 2 Beverage Minimum.
