WENDY LANE BAILEY BLENDS THE MUSICAL GENRES IN NEW SHOW
Wendy Lane Bailey is a little bit country, a little bit rock and roll,
and a little bit meshugeh (That's crazy, y'all). Ms. Bailey bursts
into the THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440
-
http://www.metropolitanroom.com/
) on Wednesdays, May 23rd and June 6th at 9:30 pm with her singular
blend of great tunes, a keen eye for the absurd, lush back up vocals,
and a few choice anecdotes from her quirky Southern Jewish Baptist
Mormon background. Rick Jensen provides musical direction, and Lisa
Poulos adds background vocals.
Bailey is renowned for her ability to take widely
diverse genres and meld them into one cohesive set. In her Metropolitan
Room outing she manages to blend pop, country, emerging composers,
folk, classic jazz and standards with ease.
Her musical flexibility has led to appearances at
a number of diverse venues including New York City's Town Hall,
Symphony Space, the Duplex, the Emelin Theatre, Helen's, Washington,
DC's famed Blues Alley, the Kennedy Center, Odette's in New Hope,
PA, and the Blue Room at the Fairmont Hotel in New Orleans. She
has also lent her voice in the studio to support other artists including
Pop legend Lesley Gore, Broadway's Susan Egan, and Jason Graae,
and on demos for up and coming songwriters. She is the recipient
of a 2007 Back Stage Bistro award.
