LINDA KOSUT'S TRIBUTE TO OSCAR BROWN JR. COMES TO THE TRIAD
San Francisco-based Linda Kosut comes to NYC with here highly acclaimed
tribute show to jazz legend Oscar Brown Jr. on Fridays, June 1st at
7:00 pm & June 8th at 9:30 pm at THE TRIAD (158 West 72nd Street,

). She is joined by the Max Perkoff Band, Max Perkoff (music director,
piano, trombone), Thomas Hubbard (bass) and Warren Odz (percussion).
Making a special appearance at the shows will be Mr. Norman Curtis,
an early music collaborator of Mr. Brown.
"Long As You're Living - the music, life and legacy
of Oscar Brown Jr." played to critical acclaim last November to
a sell-out crowd at JAZZ AT PEARL'S in San Francisco, as well as
at MICHAEL'S OCTAVIA LOUNGE.
Linda Kosut has been performing to steady acclaim
on the cabaret scenes of New York and the San Francisco Bay Area
for several years. Her 2003 debut CD, "Life Is But A Dream," was
selected as one of the top female vocalist CDs of 2003 by CABARET
HOTLINE ONLINE in New York. She has appeared in clubs in New York,
Los Angeles and many San Francisco Bay Area jazz & cabaret venues
including the Empire Plush Room, The Purple Onion, the Zingari Lounge
at The Donatello Hotel, Cosmopolitan Cafe, Cafe de la Presse, Club
Jazz Nouveau and Anna's Jazz Island in Berkeley, to name just a
few.
Oscar Brown Jr. was an inspirational and influential
composer and playwright who passed AWAY in 2005. Norman Curtis,
a New York-based BMI songwriter composer and pianist was one of
Oscar Brown Jr.'s early music collaborator from 1955-62. Norman
transcribed Oscar's music, acted as his musical librarian and copyist,
co-wrote songs with Oscar, as well as writing music for Oscar's
poetry. Altogether, Norman collaborated on over 50 of Oscar's pieces.
Norman is graciously gracing the stage of the Triad in these performances
to play one of his tunes with Linda.
There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
