"A Musical Celebration - The Songs of Bob Levy" will be presented

) on Sunday, June 24th at 3:00 pm. The show will present the songs
of Bob Levy from his recently released new jazz standards CD, "Out
In The Cold", plus other songs by Bob Levy & his collaborators. It
will feature some of New York, Boston and Toronto's finist jazz and
cabaret vocalists including Dane Vannatter, Sue Matsuki, Vincent Wolfe,
Laurie Krauz, Marcus Goldhaber, Barbara Brussell and special guest
Ronny Whyte. Musical direction is by Tedd Firth, with George Farrell
on drums.
Bob Levy is a member of The American Society of Composers,
Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), The Songwriters Guild of America,
The Connecticut Songwriters Association and the MAC (Manhattan Association
of Cabarets). Bob is an Award winning, Multi Published and Recorded
Songwriter and Lyricist. Out In the Cold is his first jazz CD after
more than ten years of writing country songs for many Nashville
artists. Bob went back to his jazz roots for this exciting CD of
"New Jazz Standards" that evokes memories of Frank Sinatra and Mel
Torme classics. Bob is a recent winner in the 2007 Billboard World
Songwriting Contest for his ballad, "The Truth".
Dane Vannatter is a 2007 MAC Award Nominee & Nightlife
Award finalist and was awarded the 2006 Bistro Award for Outstanding
Vocalist by the critics of BackStage in New York. Dane has been
acclaimed by reviewers at The New York Post, The Boston Globe and
BackStage Magazine. Dane is also the recipient of the 2000 Bistro
Award for Outstanding CD for his second recording "Flight." He has
been nominated for two MAC Awards and performed for several years
at the annual Mabel Mercer Cabaret Convention at Town Hall in New
York.
Sue Matsuki is a 2007 Mac Award Nominee. Her first
Cabaret show was at Don't Tell Mama in NY. She has also played the
legendary Village Gate, 88's, Judy's, Kelly's, Regent's, Danny's,
Jan Wallman's, The Duplex, Chez Suzette's, The Triad, the world
famous jazz club The Iridium and the equally famous Sweet Rhythm
Jazz Club in New York City; Odette's in New Hope, PA and The Gardenia
Room in Los Angeles. Sue also work at the Metropolitan Opera. Her
first CD, "A NEW TAKE" presents a new take on old jazz standards
and contemporary songs gone jazz with Musical Director/Arranger,
Gregory Toroian.
Canadian jazz vocalist Vincent Wolfe has spent the
last decade carving out a reputation as one of the most original
and promising interpreters of song on the recent jazz scene. He
has played in numerous jazz festivals and clubs both in Canada and
in the U.S. These include Birdland in New York City, Buffalo's Trafalmadore
Cafe, Detroit's Chene Park Amphitheatre, Washington D.C.'s Blues
Alley, Sculler's in Boston and The Music Hall in Cleveland. His
third jazz CD entitled Weaver of Dreams will be released later this
year.
Laurie Krauz thrills audiences with her award-winning
(Back Stage Bistro Award 1997, MAC nominated several times, including
2007), blues-influenced jazz vocals and her powerful emotional range.
She has performed with many jazz luminaries including George Coleman
& Harold Mabern and, last summer, appeared to a standing ovation
at the 2006 JVC Jazz Festival. Her debut CD, Catch Me If You Can
(LML Music), has received accolades throughout the jazz world and,
recently, Laurie was named one of the top 500 jazz vocalists of
all time in a soon-to-be published book by noted jazz critic, Scott
Yanow (tentatively entitled The Jazz Singers/Backbeat Books.
Ronny Whyte is a 2007 Mac Nominee. He is not only
considered a premiere interpreter of Classic American Popular song
he is also an outstanding jazz pianist, and an award winning songwriter.
For two years Ronny appeared in New York City in the hit musical
Our Sinatra, as well as its two national big band tours to more
than 90 cities. He was also featured twice at New York's JVC Jazz
Festival, and was inducted into the Cabaret Jazz Hall of Fame.
Barbara Brussell is a 1997 recipient of a Back Stage
Bistro Award, and six time MAC Award nominee. She was listed in
the Top10 female vocalists of 1999 and 2000 on the NY cabaret scene,
by critics Barbara and Scott Siegel, in both Theater Mania and In
Theater Magazine, and earned, "The Best Cabaret Singer of the Year
Award, 2003," by The Beverly Hills Outlook in Los Angeles, CA. She
has received raves from major cabaret rooms and stages in NYC and
around the country.
Born in Buffalo, Marcus Goldhaber was raised by the
side of his family's 1928 Ivers and Pond upright piano, on which
his mother played thousands of standards. In September (06), Marcus
released his debut CD (Fallen Apple Records) to high acclaim. From
his weekly gig in The Downstairs Room at Penang to appearances with
such legends as Les Paul and Lou Columbo, and at the equally legendary
Friars Club, to performances at The Cutting Room, Enzo's and The
Makor/Steinhardt Center Marcus has wowed audiences all over the
city and far beyond.
There is a $20 cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum.
