CABARET NEWS - NEW YORK CITY

MILES PHILLIPS RETURNS TO REPRISE TWO ACCLAIMED SHOWS
Miles Phillips is scheduled to bring two of his most popular and acclaimed shows, SPECIFIC OVERTURES and THE UNREST INSIDE ME, back to THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440 - http://www.metropolitanroom.com/ ) each for one night only, this July. On Saturday July 7th at 8:00 pm he will present SPECIFIC OVERTURES and THE UNREST INSIDE ME will be performed on Saturday, July 14th at 10:30 pm. Miles is teamed again with his longtime Musical Director, 2007 MAC Award winning composer, Jason Wynn.

SPECIFIC OVERTURES captured the hearts of New York audiences and critics alike. The show is an exploration of life's "stepping off points" Ô moments of trust and reaching out that are integral to the human experiences of friendship, love and faith. The song list features an impressive range of material Ô from show tunes and standards to pop and rock. 2007 MAC Male Debut winner Rob Langeder joins Miles in this show for a soaring duet.

THE UNREST INSIDE ME grew from Miles' reflections on his "Life Upon The Wicked Stage" and the result is a joyous celebration of the journeys of the actor and the formidable challenges of balancing Art, Travel, Showbiz and Love. The song list is eclectic, and includes his critically acclaimed original song "Art and Love."

Phillips is a multiple award-winning actor, director, nightclub vocalist and recording artist and has appeared in theaters and nightclubs from Honolulu to London. He has countless leading New York and regional theatre roles, numerous film and television appearances, a popular solo album and over a dozen original and studio cast recordings to his credit, including his current critically acclaimed turn as Robert in a new cast recording of COMPANY.

As a nightclub vocalist, Miles has been honored with the prestigious MAC Hanson Award and named a finalist in the category of Outstanding Cabaret Male Vocalist at the Nightlife Awards in 2004 (for THE UNREST INSIDE ME) and 2006 (for SPECIFIC OVERTURES). His newest solo show QUIET STARS is scheduled to open this fall at The Metropolitan Room.

Miles costarred with some of Broadway's brightest in THE BROADWAY MUSICALS OF 1930 installment of the popular Broadway By The Year series at Town Hall. A few of his recent critically acclaimed theatre performances include: Banco in the New York premiere of Ionesco's MACBETT, Bassanio in both THE MERCHANT OF VENICE and the world premiere of its award winning new sequel THE DOCTOR OF ROME, Cliff in CABARET, Captain von Trapp in THE SOUND OF MUSIC, Garry in NOISES OFF and Mordred in CAMELOT (Drama-Logue Award). Next up, he's slated to play famed British author Christopher Isherwood in a new play.
