PENNY FULLER SING OF "FRIENDS IN DEED"
Penny Fuller's new cabaret show. "Friends In Deed" at THE
METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440 -

) is a tuneful celebration of songwriters that she has had the good
pleasure of working with during her long and colorful career in the
musical theater, both on Broadway and off. Performances are scheduled
for Wednesday & Saturday, September 5th & 8th at 7:30 pm and Sunday,
September 9th at 7:00 pm. Paul Greenwood is her musical director,
with Louis Tucci on bass and guitar. Barry Kleinbort, directs.
From Richard Rodgers, who wrote the music for REX
(which had Ms. Fuller doing double duty as both Ann Boleyn and Elizabeth
the Queen) to Charles Strouse and Lee Adams who wrote the Tony award
winning APPLAUSE (where she originated the role of Eve Harrington
opposite Lauren Bacall) to John Kander and Fred Ebb (Ms. Fuller
was one of the original Sally Bowles in the initial Broadway production)
to William Finn (where she was part of the original cast of A NEW
BRAIN at Lincoln Center.) Other songwriters who figure prominently
into the evening include Harold Arlen, Arthur Schwartz, Sam Coslow,
Stephen Sondheim, and Billy Goldenberg. Ms. Fuller also includes
some cut songs from "Cabaret" and "Applause" as well as a handful
of charming anecdotes about these extraordinary individuals.
In the fall of 2006 Penny appeared Off Broadway in
the New York premiere of Kathleen Clark's SOUTHERN COMFORTS at Primary
Stages. In 2001 she received a Tony nomination for her performance
in Neil Simon's THE DINNER PARTY. Other recent New York theatre:

Her Broadway career began in Simon's BAREFOOT IN THE
PARK followed by the musicals CABARET, REX, and APPLAUSE (Tony nomination).
In Los Angeles theatre: BETRAYAL (L.A. Drama Critics Circle Award),
SEAGULL (Dramalogue), CHEKHOV IN YALTA (world premiere), RING ROUND
THE MOON, FRANNY'S WAY, and Shakespeare's HENRY !V pt 1, TWELFTH
NIGHT, AS YOU LIKE IT. She toured in CALIFORNIA SUITE and THE ELEPHANT
MAN. Regional theatre productions include: GLASS MENAGERIE, AUNTIE
MAME, YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU, and DO I HEAR A WALTZ?
Her television work has accorded her five Emmy nominations:
"E.R.", "China Beach", "Miss Rose White", "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof",
and the Emmy award for "The Elephant Man" on ABC. She has sung at
the Cinegrill and the Gardenia in Los Angeles and performed her
cabaret, developed at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Confernece, at
Birdland in New York. She returns to Primary Stages this September
in a Horton Foote play, DIVIDED ESTATE.
