MARCUS GOLDHABER AT THE METROPOLITAN ROOM SEPTEMBER 18th
On Tuesday Night, September 18th at 9:30 pm, jazz stylist Marcus Goldhaber
will take the stage at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street,
NYC - 212-206-0440 -

) along with the Jon Davis Trio, marking the 1-year anniversary of
his debut solo release. This set will preview songs from his upcoming
album and a few exciting original songs as well. Marcus' live performance
brings old-world jazz back to the mainstream with his story- telling
approach and his infinite knowledge of where jazz was born.
On September 18th, 2006, Marcus Goldhaber released
his debut solo album, "The Moment After", which was applauded by
the industry as a record that represents straight-ahead jazz that
comfortably mixes the old with the new, highlighting simple melodies
and a classic quartet sound. Since the release, the media attention
has been extremely supportive from jazz and mainstream publications
alike.
Marcus has spent the past year exclusively honing
in on his live show, which undoubtedly delivers a complete sensory
experience. Past performances have shown a steady climb, including:
a Friday Night residency at The Benjamin Hotel, The Iridium with
the legendary Les Paul, The Friars Club, Enzo's at The Jolly Madison
Towers, The Makor/Steinhardt Center and The Cutting Room.
Marcus and his passion for jazz were born and raised
in Buffalo, New York, alongside a 1928 Ivers & Pond upright, on
which his mother taught him countless standards over the years.
Inspired by his upbringing, along with a clear inheritance of the
musical gene, Marcus graduated years later with a BFA degree in
Musical Theatre from SUNY Fredonia. For a few years, he worked Off-Broadway
and on the CBS daytime drama, Guiding Light, but eventually returned
to singing the standards of Harold Arlen, Dorothy Fields, Jimmy
McHugh, and many others.
Over the past few months, Marcus and pianist Jon Davis
have also written several original songs that seem to have come
from the distant era that gave birth to traditional standards, yet
sound contemporary and very accessible. Known on "The Moment After"
for his "gentle spirit that soothes" (JazzImprov), the vocalist,
bandleader, and now writer, adds these fresh new originals to his
tasteful arrangements of the old standards in his reminiscent, unforgettable
live performance.
Marcus' Fall (2007) performance schedule is set to
include: Mannahatta, Mo' Pitkins, The Triad and Sweet Rhythm. Marcus
will also be heading back into the studio to cook up the next album,
shooting for a Spring 2008 release.
