"POLITICAL IDOL" OPENS ON ELECTION DAY
"Political Idol" a new musical revue spoofing the upcoming presidential
elections opens on Tuesday November 6th (Election Day) at THE TRIAD
(158 West 72nd Street, NYC - TKTS: 212-352-3101 - http://www.Triadnyc.com/
) for an eight week run Tuesdays at 9:00 pm through December 18th. Produced
by the FREEDOM TOAST company, preview performances begin Tuesday, October
30th at 9:00 pm. Political Idol is based on the parodies of Marc Emory,
muse and founder of The Freedom Toast. Robert Yarnall is co-author of
the book and lyrics. Chris Haberl will serve as musical director and
Kat Martin will design the costumes.
Armed with irreverence, wit, and spot-on impressions
of Hillary, Obama, Giuliani, and George W., a quartet of seasoned
entertainers turn familiar songs into show-stopping political parodies.
Directed by Julie Blanciak the company features: Lara Buck, Enga Davis,
Joseph DiSalle and Robert Yarnall. At every performance, audience
members will cast their vote for their favorite candidate - candidates
audition for the role of president and sing for the audience votes.
The show features more than a dozen lyrically altered
songs, from "Who¡ll Stop McCain" (Who¡ll Stop the Rain) to "Giuliani,"
the former mayor¡s salute to both himself and the Dean Martin standard,
"That¡s Amore." Other stand-outs include "We¡re Bringin' Ronnie Back”
(Sexy Back) and "What¡s Bill Got to Do With It," Hillary¡s version
of the Tina Turner classic.
There is a $25 music charge and a 2 drink minimum.
