"CHRISTMASTIME IN THE CITY" WITH CHRIS BARRETT DECEMBER 21ST

Chris Barrett will perform from the piano a collection of holiday and seasonally inspired songs AT THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440 - http://www.metropolitanroom.com/ ) for one night only, on Friday December 21st at 7:30 pm. Many of the songs will have been written for the Broadway stage or introduced in films. Along with some of the season's most memorable classics, Chris will present lyrics from songs, not necessarily associated with Christmas, that will affirm his belief on what should be the true holiday spirit when it's "Christmastime In The City". There is a $15 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

Cabaret singer and pianist Chris Barrett has been performing throughout the US and in Europe since 1973. Career highlights include repeat engagements at New York's Stanhope, Carlyle, Pierre, UN Plaza and Westbury Hotels. Also in New York he has appeared in cabaret at The Metropolitan Room, Helen's, Danny's Skylight Room, Judy's Chelsea, L'Omnibus d' Maxims; The Reprise Room at Dillon's and the famed FireBird Cafe.

Other US cabaret appearances include: Le Dome at The Manor, West Orange, N.J., Odette's, New Hope, PA, Pittsburgh's Civic Light Opera Cabaret, The Century Inn, Scenery Hill, PA and The Metropolitan Club, Washington, DC.

Major US engagements include: the Bel-Air Hotel, Los Angeles; the Colony and Chesterfield Hotels, Palm Beach, FL; The Ritz-Carlton, Washington DC, the Biltmore Hotel, Miami,FL; and two solo concerts at The John Drew Theater, East Hampton, NY.

In Europe, he has enjoyed repeat bookings at the Hotel Cipriani, Venice, the Berkeley Hotel, London, and the Poseidon Hotel, Positano, Italy.

In June 2007, Chris' performance was featured at The Bruno Walter Auditorium at New York's Lincoln Center. He made his symphonic debut in 2002 as guest artist performing a Noel Coward program with The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. He has had invitational performances at The Smithsonian Institution, Washington, DC and Steinway Hall, New York City. He has performed in concert aboard the QEII and at private engagements for Presidents Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan. He has also performed in New York for HRH Prince Philip and with an American cities tour for The Baron Philippe and Philipine de Rothschild.

The recipient of the BACK STAGE BISTRO AWARD for Best Singer / Instrumentalist and a finalist at the 2005 NIGHTLIFE AWARDS was declared "a pillar of New York nightlife" by John Hoglund of BACK STAGE. Chris has five recordings. His most recent CD "Champagne Sometimes.....a night out with Chris Barrett" was released December 2006.
