Absolutely no new singer in recent memory has caused
more stir on the nightclub scene than this passionate, multi-octave
vocalist who made his cabaret debut in 2002.
A remarkable, singular voice that rivets the listener
with its haunting colors and brilliant nuances, Marcus has been acclaimed
by critics and a rabidly growing fan base. He has also been compared
to many great vocalists from the worlds of jazz, pop and R & B from
Johnny Mathis, Steve Perry and Jimmy Scott to the late Eva Cassidy.
Miranda Music has just released "At Last," the widely
acclaimed debut CD of Marcus Simeone; Versatile and compelling, Marcus
crosses musical boundaries with ease from jazz to pop to classic standards
on this thrilling new album which was recorded live. The album's title
cut, written for Marcus, is receiving worldwide airplay on www.youtube.com
and across the Internet as an anthem for gay and lesbian marriage.
With over 300 demo recordings under his belt, Marcus
Simeone has gained a reputation as a singer's singer within the industry.
On the new CD, he displays a heart-wrenching sensitivity with a powerful
command of every melodic line along with flawless phrasing. His pitch
perfect, multi-octave voice dazzles audiences wherever he performs
with his band. Citing influences like Nat King Cole and Johnny Mathis
as well as the late Eva Cassidy, Phyliss Hyman and Billie Holiday,
Marcus said, "I become free when I sing. I know I am hard to pigeon-hole
as I am as comfortable singing Cole Porter as I am singing Stevie
Wonder and Motown. As long as the lyric speaks to me, my voice does
the rest." He has been touring the country playing to sold out audiences
with "Mathis!" His tribute to one of his strongest singing influences
and musical idols.
Marcus only started singing in public ten years ago.
Making his Manhattan night club debut in 2001, he quickly received
wide critical accolades and has been booked consistently in clubs
like Don't Tell Mama, The Duplex, The Encore, Helen's, The Laurie
Beechman Theater, The Manor and numerous clubs in the Tri-state area
as well as theaters and night clubs in Palm Springs, California, Boca
Raton, Florida and Coral Cables, Florida. He has also been a popular
regular at the annual Cabaret Convention. He has been interviewed
by the Associated Press when his record label folded in 2004 and profiled
in several New York outlets. In 2008, he will open an 8-month engagement
at The Metropolitan Room. He was honored by Back Stage and The Manhattan
Association of Cabarets & Clubs (MAC) for his outstanding vocals.
Marcus remains passionate about his commitment and volunteer
work over the last several years. He is an NYU honor student working
for his Master's degree in social work. He has worked extensively
helping AIDS patients and is currently working for foster children
and their families at Seamen's Society For Children and Families.
