NEW JERSEY - NEW YORK STATE

SONGWRITING & JAZZ LEGEND DAVE FRISHBERG IN THE HUDSON VALLEY
On Saturday, June 2nd at 8:00 pm at SUNY-Ulster's QUIMBY THEATRE (Cottekill
Road, Stone Ridge, NY - Tkts: 845-687-2687 - http://www.chamberartsfestival.org/
), The Chamber Arts Festival of Marbletown welcomes Dave Frishberg,
one of the most celebrated jazz pianists of the modern era, whose witty,
quirky, wryly tender songs have entertained audiences for years. Accompanying
himself at the piano, the Grammy-nominated Frishberg will perform a
program of original songs culled from his catalog of cult classics:
"My Attorney Bernie;" "Peel Me A Grape;" Schoolhouse Rock perennial
"I'm Just A Bill;" "Van Lingle Mungo," his tribute ballplayers of days
gone by; and the ultimate parody of Beatnik cool, "I'm Hip," made famous
in a recording by Bette Midler.
Frishberg's songs have been interpreted by jazz vocalists
from Tony Bennett to Diana Krall, but Frishberg's own understated
vocals lend the songs a conversational nuance and infectious jazzy
swing. Described by critics as a cross between Hoagy Carmichael, Woody
Allen, and Noel Coward, Frishberg describes himself as "a pianist
who has always written songs and finally summoned up the nerve to
sing them in public."
This is a rare opportunity to see this inimitable talent
and jazz personality live in concert in the Hudson Valley.
Tickets, priced at $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and
$10 for college students.Students in high school or below are admitted
free.
