KAREN KOHLER'S "THREE PENNIES AND A TOUCH OF VENUS" AT THE MANOR
LE DOME at THE MANOR (111 Prospect Avenue, West Orange, NJ - 973-731-2360
- http://themanorrestaurant.com/cabaret.html
) proudly presents Karen Kohler in "Three Pennies and a Touch of Venus"
as part of their Cabaret Soiree series on Thursday, September 27th at
9:00 pm. The Cabaret SoirÃe consists of a 4-course, 4-star dinner-and-show
package, with dinner seatings at 6:00, 6:15, and 6:30 pm.
German-born, American-raised Karen Kohler is passionate
about cabaret. Known for her broad vocal range and distinctive theatricality,
she has sung to sold-out houses here and abroad in English, German,
French, Spanish, and Yiddish. She is equally at home in a jazzy George
Gershwin ballad as she is a sinister Bertholt Brecht tune. Her tribute
to Noel Coward with KT Sullivan won the 2006 MAC Award for "Best Revue."
Karen has recorded three albums and given lectures on
cabaret history and performance. In 2003, she formed the Kabarett
Kollektif to help preserve the European cabaret arts. This New York-based
ensemble is the recipient of the 2006 New York Nightlife Award for
"Unique Cabaret Performance," given annually to artists in the fields
of cabaret, jazz and stand-up comedy.
Her recent performance highlights include the Adelaide
Cabaret Festival in Adelaide, Australia; Joeçs Pub in NYC as part
of German-American Friendship Week; Spiegeltent at South Street Seaport;
and the 2006 Cabaret Convention at Jazz at Lincoln Center where her
dramatic rendition of "Lili Marlene" was praised as a highpoint of
the festival.
In addition to being a compelling performer, Karen also
directs and produces cabaret and organized New Yorkçs first European
cabaret festival held in January 2007. www.karenkohler.com.
Cost for dinner and show is $74 plus tax and gratuity.
Wait-list "show only" seats may be available at $35 per person.
