HEATHER MAC RAE CELEBRATES THE CD RELEASE OF "SONGS FOR MY FATHER"


WILL APPEAR AT THE FIREBIRD CAF¸ FRIDAYS & SATURDAYS, OCTOBER 5 ¬ 13

Heather Mac Rae will celebrate the release of her debut CD "SONGS FOR MY FATHER" with an encore engagement at THE FIREBIRD CAFE (363 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-586-0244 - http://www.firebirdrestaurant.com/) on Fridays and Saturdays, October 5th through 13th. "SONGS FOR MY FATHER" is Ms. Mac Rae's tribute to the songs and films of Gordon Mac Rae, the legendary star of such classic film musicals as "Oklahoma!," "Carousel" and "The Desert Song." The show features musical direction by Mark Nadler and direction by Barry Kleinbort.

"SONGS FOR MY FATHER" is Ms. Mac Rae's loving homage to her father's artistic legacy. The show interweaves stories of growing up in Hollywood with a new twist on Mr. Mac Rae's famous songs, including "Surrey With a Fringe on Top," "If I Loved You" and "Tea for Two." The CD of "SONGS FOR MY FATHER" is available through Harbinger Records. Jamie deRoy is executive producer.

Heather Mac Rae is a singer, actress and nightclub performer. One of her first theatrical experiences was appearing with the entire Mac Rae family (parents Gordon and Sheila, sister Meredith and brothers Gar and Bruce) in the Starlight Theatre's production of "Annie Get Your Gun" in Kansas City.

She made her Broadway debut as Abra in "Here's Where I Belong" (the musical version of Steinbeck's East of Eden). She then joined the Broadway cast of the hit musical "Hair" in the role of Sheila. Other Broadway roles include Faith in Tina Howe's "Coastal Disturbances" and Dr. Charlotte in the Tony Award-winning musical "Falsettos," a role she created Off-Broadway in "Falsettoland."

Heather Mac Rae's television appearances include "Frasier," "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," "Clarissa Explains It All" and "America Tonight" with Martin Mull. Her films include "Life With Mikey," "Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex But Were Afraid to Ask," "Bang The Drum Slowly" and "A Perfect Couple."

Performances of "SONGS FOR MY FATHER" are on Friday October 5th, Saturday October 6th, Friday October 12th and Saturday October 13th at 9:00 pm. There is a $25 cover charge and $15 minimum. Dinner is available before the show.
