WINNING KOOKY TUNES RETURNS TO MAMA'S FOR CD RELEASE SHOWS

"Keith
Thompson's Kooky Tunes," the highly acclaimed musical comedy review
directed by two-time Tony Award winner Thommie Walsh, and featuring
Jay Rogers, Patrick DeGennaro, Vanessa Jones and Perry Payne, reopens
at DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788 - http://www.donttellmamanyc.com/)
on September 30th for an album-release celebration and limited run.
The show plays Mondays and Tuesdays, September 30th through October
8th, at 8:30 pm. There is a $15 cover charge and 2-drink minimum.
Live cast albums will be available for purchase at all performances.
Following sellout runs
at EIGHTY EIGHT'S, the Laurie Beechman Theatre at the WESTBANK CAF¸,
and DON'T TELL MAMA, the show was picked up for a live album recording
by John Yap and Jay Records, completed last July at Clinton Studios
and now ready for a September 30th release.
The show features specialty
material penned by Thompson, an award-winning musical theatre and
television composer who wrote Off-Broadway's "White Lies" with standout
screenwriter and playwright Douglas Carter Beane.
Thompson's MAC-award nominated
specialty songs, punny patter and comedic characters are brought to
life by an eclectic and appropriately kooky cast including long-time
collaborator and funny man Jay Rogers. Rogers, one of New York's best
musical comics, received the Drama Desk nomination for his hilarious
torch songs to Newt Gingrich, Strom Thurmond, and Rush Limbaugh in
the Off-Broadway smash hit "When Pigs Fly," and is a MAC and Bistro
award winner.
Rogers and fellow Kooky
Tunester Perry Payne, who just completed a sold-out Off-Broadway run
as Sylvia Fine Kaye in "Danny and Sylvia" at CHASHAMA THEATRE (135
West 42nd Street, NYC), were chosen for InTheater's compilation of
the "Ten Funniest People in Cabaret" in its final "Best of the Best"
issue for their "Kooky" performances. Acclaimed pop/rock singer and
recording artist Patrick DeGennaro and "Lion King" veteran Vanessa
Jones deliver knockout vocal performances to round out the diverse
and accomplished ensemble.
