LINA KOUTRAKOS AND RICK JENSEN IN BOSTON ONE NIGHT ONLY
Award-winning NYC-based performers Lina Koutrakos and Rick Jensen will
appear for one night only at CAMBRIDGE CENTER FOR ADULT EDUCATION (56
Brattle Street, Cambridge, MA - 617-547-6789 - Ext. 1 - http://www.ccae.org/
) on Saturday January 5th at 8:00 pm. Both are dynamic performers, songwriters
and recording artists. Between them they have earned nine MAC (Manhattan
Association of Cabarets) Awards and two Back Stage Bistro Awards, including
Lina's recent 2007 MAC Awards as Best Major Female Artist and Best Director.
Jensen and Koutrakos are in Boston to lead a three day
intensive performance workshop at the Cambridge Center for Adult Education.
They have served on the faculty of the Cabaret Conference at Yale
University, The O'Neill Cabaret Symposium, The St. Louis Cabaret Conference
and the Chicago and Santa Fe Cabaret Intensives in addition to offering
ongoing advanced performance workshops in Manhattan. Tickets are $20
($17 BACA members).
Koutrakos is a sophisticated rocker who has been featured
in the New York Times and Billboard magazine. She and her band have
attracted fans including Meryl Streep, Kathleen Turner, Tom Hanks
and the late Gregory Hines. Her unique, emotive voice was featured
in the critically acclaimed America Undercover HBO documentary about
9/11, "Telling Nicholas", and she has won France's prestigious Petite
Piaf Award for Best Female Vocalist.
Jensen's original songs have become standards on the
New York City club circuit. In addition to his work as a solo performer,
Jensen is frequently found musical directing, accompanying, arranging,
producing, and even singing back up for a number of musical theatre
and cabaret luminaries including Jason Graae, Liz Callaway, Barbara
Fasano, Jeannie McDonald, and Tovah Feldshuh. With Feldshuh he toured
extensively, culminating in an appearance at London's Savoy Theatre
where they raised over eight million dollars for charity.
