NEWS ABOUT CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE

MEMBERS' CHOICE FAVORITE SONG ANNOUNCED
The voting for the CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE MEMBERS' CHOICE FAVORITE CABARET SONG ended on Friday night, September 19th. As it was, just over 120 of the over-300 2008-2009 members took part in the voting - a little disappointing (and surprising) since this time around members were asked to vote for their personal favorite - not for "the best" - so it was not necessary for voters to be familiar with all the songs on the list. Quite surprising to me - considering the list of nominees - 2 members actually admitted that they not familiar with ANY of the songs and chose not to vote.

Every song on the list of 26 nominees received at least one vote (members were only permitted to choose one) - with nearly every one receiving 2 votes. But the top choice was very clear - receiving nearly double the number of votes as the song in second place. (You can see all 26 nominated songs at http://www.svhamstra.com/MembersChoiceSongPrelim08.shtml )

The very clear winner was "Listen to My Heart" by David Friedman - made known world wide by the recordings of Nancy LaMott. This choice was not surprising, considering the fact that it has probably been on the song list of many cabarets shows over the years, has been the title of many shows and even several CDs. It has also been sung on national TV, at scores of benefits, and has received radio play all over the world - sung by many artists.
