REDHEADS IN THE SPOTLIGHT AT DAVENPORT'S
Voice Quest Inc. in association with Prescott Laine Productions presents,
singer/comedienne/actress Melissa Young in "Red Headed Broadway" at
DAVENPORT'S (1383 North Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago, IL - 773-278-1830

) on Saturdays March 22nd & 29th at 8:00 pm. Melissa Young has been
a Chicago favorite for over 11 years. Fresh from her New York City cabaret
debut, Melissa is delighted to be presenting her newest solo Cabaret
performance. In "Red Headed Broadway," Ms. Young presents career highlights,
anecdotes, and Broadway hits of fellow red-headed headliners including
Gwen Verdon, Bernadette Peters, Carol Burnett, and Faith Prince. Melissa
is joined by Claire Bigley at the piano who, along with partner Gillian
Kelley, also provides musical direction for the performance.
Melissa Young has been a Chicago favorite for over 11 years. An
East Coast native, Melissa Young has worked with many off-loop theater
companies, as well as having recently starred with 1981 Miss America
Susan Powell and Broadway's Nat Chandler in Show Stoppers, 80 Years
of Broadway Favorites That Brought Down The House at the Valentine
Theater in Toledo, Ohio. She has acted in and directed many productions
during her Chicago stay and even took the original play Me, The Devil
and Other Friends by Fannon Holland to the New York International
Fringe Festival in the summer of 2003.
Her first one-woman show The Life and Times of a She Devil premiered
at Davenports Cabaret Bar in 2004. Known for her power belt and comedic
timing, Young has had the honor of being the special guest of the
great Stephen Kimbrough at the Gentry on Halstead in Chicago on multiple
occasions. Red Headed Broadway is surely a good time not to be missed!
Tickets for Red Headed Broadway are $15 with a 2 drink minimum.
