SCOTLAND: MARNIE IN CAST OF EDINBURGH FEST WORLD PREMIERE

NYC based Marnie Baumer is signing on in Scotland as the title role in the new musical "Miss Sign-On: The Untold Story of a Diva on The Dole" as part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival (August 3rd through 25th) at GEORGE II, VENUE 37 (George Square/Buccleuch Place, Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - EH8 9LH - 0131 226-0000 - http://www.edfringe.com/ ).

Ms. Baumer, who will be making her Edinburgh debut in the production, has worked alongside Stephen Schwartz, Milton Schaefer and Harvey Fierstein, and has recently been singing at New York City Town Hall and Carnegie Hall. The production is the world premiere of the new comedy musical, which has music and lyrics from Stefan Bednarczyk, creator of the now-legendary UK comedy series 'Dick Barton' and co-writer/producer Jamie Read.

Previews are July 31st through August 2nd and the show runs through August 25th, all shows at 9:20 pm (no show on Mondays except August 1st). Marnie, who once sang a command performance for a Moroccan Princess whilst at the Palais Royale in Paris, will be starring in the production, alongside a cast of five multi-talented actor/musicians, who will be playing all of the roles and as well as all of the instruments. EDINBURGH FRINGE FACTS:

Fringe 2008 features 31,320 performances of 2,088 shows in 247 venues.

Comedy makes up 32% of the program followed closely by Theatre with 29% Music is next with 17%, Musicals & Opera are tied with Dance & Physical Theatre with 5% each. Children's shows and Event listings are also tied and account for 4% each, Exhibitions make up the final 3%.

An estimated 18,792 performers will take to the stage at the Fringe in 2008. 350 shows at Fringe 2008 are absolutely free, an increase of 46 shows from last year. 838 (40%) of the shows are World Premieres and from the remaining 60% of the program 278 of the shows are European premieres and 52 are UK premieres.

Last year 1.7 million tickets (1,697,293) were sold at the Fringe.

Performers have registered shows originating in 46 different countries from Austria to Zimbabwe.
