"ANDREA MARCOVICCI SINGS RODGERS & HART" AT OAK ROOM
Andrea Marcovicci will perform her new show "Andrea Marcovicci Sings
Rodgers & Hart," for the first time in New York at THE ALGONQUIN OAK
ROOM (59 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-419-9331 -
http://www.algonquinhotel.com/nav_oakroom_cabaret.html
) from November 13th 2007 through January 12th, 2008. The show features
music director Shelly Markham on piano and Jered Egan on bass. Her
new CD of the same name will be released by her label Andreasong on
November 13th. Celebrating the music of one of the American Songbook's
most prolific and accomplished songwriting teams, the show is brimming
with hits and undiscovered gems.
Ms. Marcovicci brings her uncanny gift of interpretation
to the seminal artistry of Lorenz Hart, whose brilliant lyrics rank
with those of Noel Coward and Cole Porter for shimmering wit and
sophistication, poignancy and heartfelt sentiment. Andrea has unearthed
some rare treasures from the Rodgers & Hart songbook: "A Little
Birdie Told Me So" from Peggy Ann and "What's The Use?" from Lido
Lady (1926).
Thus far in 2007, I'll Be Seeing You... Love Songs
of WWII was presented with Chamber Orchestra in two Acts and wowed
a sold-out crowd at New York's Town Hall. Andrea helped to launch
Jeff Harnar's American Songbook in London series and returned to
the 92nd Street Y Lyrics & Lyricists for the third straight year
as guest Artistic Director with her new show Thanks for the Memories:
The Lyrics of Leo Robin.
In addition, her Andreasong label released the cast
album for last year's show, Kurt Weill in America, complete with
a 48-page color booklet with extensive liner notes. For her spring
engagement at the Oak Room Andrea brought a new version of By Request
and enjoyed a triumphant return to Le Chat Noir in New Orleans with
Andrea Sings Astaire. For her latest season at the Plush Room in
San Francisco, Andrea debuted the world premiere of Marcovicci Sings
Rodgers & Hart and is pleased to return to Caramoor with Andrea
Sings Astaire.
