ODETTE'S UPDATE! THINGS ARE MOVING AHEAD!
New Hope, PA entrepreneur, Michael Amery, owner of THE INN AT BOWMAN'S
HILL, has purchased the long-closed ODETTE'S property and building.
Mike has been working very hard over the past year to put together a
plan that will put Odette's back on the map as the premiere entertainment
destination in New Hope, with the cabaret room managed by its long-time
host, Bob Egan. Most recently Mike presented the latest plans to the
New Hope Borough Council who responded favorably to proposed changes
in zoning that will facilitate a flood-resistant rehabilitation and
remodeling of the historic structure. The New Hope Borough Historic
and Architectural Review Board (HARB) have also provided positive endorsement
of the proposed structure as it will be seen from both north, south,
east and west! There are still many permitting hurdles to overcome at
both local, State and even Federal level but the proposals to date have
met with virtual universal support.
The building will be elevated some 11 feet or so, such
that the new finished floor level will be just above the level of
the disastrous flood of 1955. As a direct result of its stunning riverside
location Odette's, New Hope's original and renowned cabaret destination,
has endured many challenges and weathered many storms through the
ages! Odette's, and its loyal entertainment community will weather
this storm too! Mike and Bob are committed to ODETTE'S future, and
to the future of the local cabaret, piano bar and entertainment scene
in general.
Meantime, many of the events formerly held at ODETTE'S
are now being presented just across the Delaware River at the STOCKTON
INN (1 North Main Street, Stockton NJ - 609-397-1250 - http://www.bobegan.net/stockton-inn.html
), under the direction of Mr. Egan.
