*** CABARET ORGANIZATION EVENT ***

BACA (Boston Association of Cabaret Artists - http://www.bostoncabaret.com/ ) presents the "Winter Festival Showcase" on Saturday, January 24th at 8:00 pm at THE BLACKSMITH HOUSE (56 Brattle Street, Cambridge, MA - TKTS: http://www.bostoncabaret.com/tickets.html ). The show is a fundraising event that features three of the organization's top performers in a program of cabaret, jazz and pop songs. Featured Performers are singer/actress/educator Celia Slattery, David Thorne Scott and Mark Shilansky. Mr. Shilansky also serves as musical director.

Ms. Slattery began her singing career in the 80s as a solo acoustic performer at many of New England's better known clubs including Passim in Cambridge. After receiving a Master's Degree from New England Conservatory with studies in theater, voice and jazz, Celia landed a 7 month gig at the Bamboo Bar in Bangkok, Thailand at the world renowned Oriental Hotel. Celia recalls the experience on her new CD, Cast Of Characters, in the song, "Bamboo Bar." She is in demand as a vocal educator and conducts workshops and master classes.

David Thorne Scott is a singer, pianist, songwriter, arranger and an Associate Professor Of Voice at Berklee College of Music. His debut album, "Shade," was chosen as a Top 5 Vocal Jazz CD by the Jazz Education Journal. David's 2007 release, "Dyad," is a collection of jazz standards and originals performed with Mark Shilansky. David's arrangements for jazz choir are published in "Classic Vocal Jazz" by Hal Leonard.

After working stints in New York, Mark Shilansky returned to this area to become an Assistant Professor at Berklee College of Music. He has released several recordings including "First Look," "Different Songs" (original music) and "Other Voices." Mark will accompany Celia and David, as well as contribute his own set of original material.

BACA (Boston Association of Cabaret Artists) is the only member-based arts organization in New England dedicated to the support, promotion and advocacy of the art of cabaret. In addition to producing showcase events throughout the year, BACA distributes Boston Cabaret, an online newsletter; publicizes weekly open mics in the Boston area; issues a continually updated, online, comprehensive calendar of cabaret shows; administers a cabaret discussion email list and sponsors periodic workshops and master classes by leading performers.
